Coupling electromagnetic sensors and ultrasound images for tongue tracking: acquisition set up and preliminary results
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes a new method for coupling ultrasound images with tree-dimensional electromagnetic data, to recover larger parts of the tongue during speech production. The electromagnetic data is superimposed on ultrasound images after spatial and temporal calibration. Successful fusion results are presented on various speech sequences. A complete setup for evaluation of the electromagnetic system is further presented.

Multimodal Fusion of Electromagnetic, Ultrasound and MRI Data for Building an Articulatory Model
Data fusion from multiple sensors is of significant interest to the speech research community, as it can potentially provide a better picture of speech production through the use of complementary sensor modalities. This paper deals with the practical aspects of this problem, such as acquisition and processing of the dynamic ultrasound (US) and electromagnetic (EM) data of the tongue during spee...
متن کاملTemperature Mapping Using Ultrasound Digital Images
Introduction: The success of hyperthermia depends on the accuracy of the temperature monitoring in the tumor and the surrounding normal tissue. In this study, the temperature changes were determined by computing the speckle displacement in the ultrasound digital images. Speckle tracking algorithm was used to compute the displacement. Materials and Methods: The experiment was perf...
متن کاملRunning Title: Tongue features from ultrasound images
This paper is meant to be an introduction to and general reference for ultrasound imaging for new and moderately experienced users of the instrument. The paper consists of eight sections. The first explains how ultrasound works, including beam properties, scan types and machine features. The second section discusses image quality, including the interpretation of anatomical features and artifact...
متن کاملEvaluation of the uncertainty of multimodal articulatory data
Our purpose is to present the last improvements brought to our acquisition system of multimodal articulatory data and reports on a complete evaluation of the uncertainty attached to the data it provides. In previous works [1, 2, 3], we presented our system to acquire multimodal articulatory data. The data are both dynamic: 2D Ultrasound (US) to get midsagittal images of the tongue at 66 Hz, ele...
متن کاملAutomatic contour tracking in ultrasound images.
In this paper, a new automatic contour tracking system, EdgeTrak, for the ultrasound image sequences of human tongue is presented. The images are produced by a head and transducer support system (HATS). The noise and unrelated high-contrast edges in ultrasound images make it very difficult to automatically detect the correct tongue surfaces. In our tracking system, a novel active contour model ...
